Myanmar is a mysterious land. Closed to tourism for many years, the newly-created country receives new visitors and still maintains its distinctive charm.
An energetic destination, especially for Western tourists, Myanmar continues to inspire and surprise even the world's travelers. To give you an idea of what makes this country so special, we've compiled a list of some of Myanmar's most fun and interesting Things to do in Myanmar.
1. Visit the Shwedagon Pagoda
Shwedagon Pagoda is Myanmar's most sacred Buddhist pagoda and Yangon's most attractive. It is believed that there are four relics of the previous Buddha: the staff of the Kakusandha, the water filter of the Koṇāgama, the part of Kassapa's clothing, and the eight strands of Gautama's hair. In Southeast Asia I have seen some Buddhist stumbles but it is one of the largest and most spectacular Shwedagon pagoda.

At a height of 99 meters (99 meters), the peeling structure was maintained at the time but this did not make it unimportant and unusual. You can't see underneath all the scaffolding in this picture, but the whole stupa is covered in gold plates. I read that Burmese monarchs and citizens gave gold to keep the stupa.
It was an amazing sight with all the scaffolding, so I can imagine what it must be like without being silent and bright.

The gold stupa is the focus of the Shwedagon pagoda, but the temple complex is composed of several shrines, monuments and secondary structures. There is not much to see here except stupa, you can spend at least two hours in the complex. People were crowded, but Shwedagon Pagoda being Myanmar's most popular Buddhist pilgrimage, you can expect it any time of the year.
It's easy to visit on your own, but if you want to go on a guided tour, you can see these tours in Koko. Some of them make stops at Shwedagon Pagoda. We don't usually go on tours, but part of me would explain to someone here. It was about learning more about the four relics of the Buddha.
2. Experience Local Life on the Yangon Circular Railway
Yangon has no subway system, but it has a circular rail. Yangon is a local suburban network providing metropolitan service. 45.9 km (28.5 miles) A 39-station train system is in a loop and connects satellite towns and neighborhoods in Yangon.

A circular train ticket costs only 200 MMK. For about thirteen cents in the US, you'll have food and entertainment along the three-hour train. Former observers are sticking to peppers and shrimp like sausages and sauces that sell all kinds of snacks of this kind.
Towards the end of the look, the closer you get to Yangon, the vendors with this large bowl of fresh produce will hop on the train to sell their goods for sale in the city. It's a colorful sight and an inexpensive way to spend three hours. If you are into street photography then you will have a lot of train shooting.
3. See the giant Buddha of the Chaukhtatgyi Paya
The Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple is 215 meters high, 66 meters long, larger than the famous image of Bagu. Unfortunately, like the Shwedagon Pagoda stupa, this one was also doing scaffolding and maintenance at the time of my visit.

The big red covers of the Buddha's shoes were very pretty. Unfortunately, all the scaffolding had to be darkened. Has it been New Year's Eve in Yangon ?

4. Stroll around Kandawgyi Lake
Kandawgyi Lake is an artificial lake east of the Shwedagon Pagoda. It is a quiet environment with lots of trees and some restaurants, this famous and famous boat-shaped boat called Karaweik Palace. I had lunch there after visiting the Shwedagon Pagoda.

If you are looking for a quick escape from the chaos of Yangon, then Kandawgyi Lake is a great place to die for a few hours. There are about 8 miles (8 km) of circumference, so you can spend a relaxing day strolling along its shores. It was one of my favorite sites in Yangon.
5. Visit the temple, the mosque, the synagogue and a church
The Sule Pagoda is a 2,700 year old Burmese stupa that can be said to be older than the Shwedagon Pagoda. Yangon is located in the center of the city, in the middle of a busy roundabout. One of the city's most popular landmarks, it has been the meeting point for important political demonstrations in the city.
Being a very important site, I was on the Sule Pagoda route, but I knew very little that visiting the Buddhist temple would take me to a Muslim mosque, Jewish synagogue, and a Catholic church within 2 miles of each other.

Myanmar is mostly Buddhist, at about 88%, but other religions are practiced in the country by Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Judaism.
At the north end of the Sule Pagoda roundabout is the Sunni Jameh Mosque of Bengal, a mosque in central Yangon. 4-5% of Myanmar's population is Muslim.

Located 600 meters west of Sule Pagoda, Musmeah Yeshua Synagogue, the only synagogue in Myanmar. It has been around since 1854 for a few people who remain Jews in Myanmar. Most of them are descendants of Baghdad Jews in Iraq.
1.5 km northeast of the Sule Pagoda is St. Mary's Cathedral, Myanmar's largest Catholic cathedral. Christians are the second-largest religious group in the country, making up about 6-7 percent of the population.I am not religious but I found it interesting to have different houses of worship so close to each other in downtown Yangon.
6. Go shopping at Bogyoke Aung San
One mile north of the Sule Pagoda is Bogyoke Aung San Market, a former colony building with more than 2,000 stores. If you are looking for Burmese antiques, crafts, jewelry, textiles and souvenirs then go to the best place.

7. Take a Food Tour
I came to Yangon because our "Chef Tour" friends saw this delicious. Eat a four-hour meal and discover the city's best Burmese food. If tasting the best local food is important, then there is no better way than traveling. In short, no one knows their food better than the locals.

8. Take a cooking class
A food tour will teach you what to eat and where to find it. However, if you want to learn about local cuisine, there is no better way than taking a cooking class. It's like watching under the kitchen hose.

9. Take a Day Trip to Bago
91 km (57 miles) northeast of Yangon is the ancient capital of Burma, Bago. There are major sites like Shwemawdaw Pagoda, Kanbawzathadi Palace, and Shwethalyaung Buddha, and there are huge Buddhas, 55 meters long.
